Tanguy Ndombele has posted a video of highlights from training in which the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder looks sharp, scoring goals even nutmegging Jack Clarke – prompting reaction from former Lyon teammate Memphis Depay.
Ndombele, 23, is slowly building momentum at Tottenham after a difficult spell since the arrival of Jose Mourinho. He has already netted two goals in seven appearances, as well as shining in Premier League wins over Southampton and Man United.
Certainly, Spurs fans are beginning to see the player that they spent a club-record £63million (Sky Sports) on from Lyon last summer. Ndombele now has 36 Tottenham appearances under his belt in all competitions, having a hand in eight goals.
The midfielder uploaded a video to his Instagram page with the caption “stay focused”. Though he missed out on making France’s squad for the international break, Ndombele could continue his improved form and face West Ham on Saturday.
Mourinho is expected to chop and change his Tottenham players this season, with the chances of a starting eleven to remain the same between midweek and weekend games unlikely. Ndombele is likely to come in an out of the side throughout.
But he is certainly throwing the gauntlet down to Mourinho, showing that he is more than capable of providing game-changing moments. Depay, who knows Ndombele well from their time together at Lyon, responded to his post with a three-word verdict.
