The move taking Nathan Ferguson from West Brom into the Premier League with Crystal Palace has been delayed, according to the Evening Standard.
They report that a medical issue has held up the right back’s departure from the Hawthorns after he underwent a medical with Palace on Wednesday.
The report says that Palace are weighing up completing the deal regardless, such is the level of potential Roy Hodgson thinks Ferguson has.
BBC West Midlands asked Baggies boss Slaven Bilic whether he expects the move to go through and it was revealed that Palace said no to loaning the player back until the end of the season.
TBR’s View – Palace should push deal through regardless
It’s never ideal to push through a deal to sign a player when there’s a medical issue lingering, but landing Ferguson would be a great deal for Palace.
He has been fit enough to shine through his breakthrough season and with his contract expiring in the summer, his £4 million deal represents a bargain.
That’s especially the case given the premium usually put on the prices for young English talent these days.
Palace have needed a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka all season and they should ignore the snag to land one who has shone in the second tier this term.
