Aston Villa are still interested in landing summer target Scott McKenna, according to The Daily Record. Steve Bruce wanted McKenna but Dean Smith is now in charge.
Nonetheless, Aston Villa are still keen on McKenna as Smith looks to bolster his back-line this month.
McKenna could shore things up at Aston Villa, having impressed during his time with Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership.
The 22-year-old has already played more than 50 senior games for the Dons, despite his young age, and is a key fixture in their defence.
Celtic are also interested in McKenna, as per The Daily Record, but Aston Villa will be hoping to tempt him to England.

And McKenna might look at the example set by John McGinn. Aston Villa won the race for the Scotland international, who was wanted by Celtic too, BBC Sport reported last summer.
But McGinn instead moved to the Championship and joined Aston Villa. And while the Villans have been below-par, the 24-year-old has been a standout performer in midfield.
McKenna could look at McGinn’s form for Aston Villa and use that as the blueprint for his own career path.
The Scotland international has the potential to reach the top level in England and Aston Villa could be an ideal next step.
Aberdeen’s £10m asking price (Daily Record) may put Aston Villa off but if they can drive the price down, he may be a shrewd long-term acquisition.
