Maurizio Pochettino has posted a touching message to Tottenham Hotspur and the club’s supporters after it was confirmed he had left the club to join Watford on a permanent deal – just over a year after his Father was sacked by Daniel Levy.

Pochettino, 19, has penned a permanent 18-month deal at Championship side Watford after entering the last few months of his deal at Spurs. The winger was a regular in the club’s Under-23 side, having joined Spurs under during his Father’s reign.

He linked up with Pochettino senior from Southampton, but the latter was sacked by Levy towards the end of 2019 and has since joined one of his former clubs in Paris Saint-Germain – replacing now Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel.

Spain-born winger Pochettino played 18 times in all competitions for Tottenham’s Under-23 side but was not a regular starter this season – with the likes of Jack Clarke, Alfie Devine and others preferred in midfield.

That could have been a contributing factor for Pochettino, who will initially link up with Watford’s reserve side but obviously stands a better chance of breaking into the senior side with the Hornets. He will wear the number 77 shirt.

Pochettino took to Instagram after a move was confirmed and sent a touching message to Spurs and the club’s fans – thanking them for their help during his development. He says Spurs will always have a place in his heart.
