Tottenham Hotspur take on PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League this evening, hoping to pick up their first win in the competition this season.
With Spurs taking on Dutch opposition, plenty of interest has circulated around Tottenham outcast Vincent Janssen.
The Netherlands international is still at Tottenham after a foot injury saw him miss out on a loan return to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.
However, he does not have a squad number and has been effectively disregarded as an option.
“I think we are going to play in the Champions League and it’s clear the situation of Vincent. I don’t think it’s a moment to talk about him. We’ve talked a lot already.”
Essentially, the Argentine was suggesting this is not the time to speak about the flop striker for one good reason – he has zero chance of featuring in the game, or any going ahead.
Janssen is not registered to play in either Europe or domestically and the Tottenham boss does not even want to waste time discussing his current injury status.
Signed for a fee in the region of £18.6 million, according to Sky Sports, the Dutchman never looked up to scratch in the Premier League.
The way he has been treated has certainly seen some criticism head Tottenham’s way. But it is clear Pochettino is focused only on the players he can see making a difference at the club. Janssen is not, and it seems never will, be back in that category.
