Tottenham are reportedly very interested in a move for defender Koray Gunter from Serie A club Genoa.
According to Calciomercato, Spurs and Italian giants AC Milan are both keen on the 24-year-old.
It is understood that North London scouts have watched the centre-back in action already this campaign and could be present on Saturday to watch him against Napoli.
Spurs could do with extra reinforcements at centre-backs in their first-team squad moving forward, but manager Mauricio Pochettino should swerve Gunter at all costs.
Gunter is a strange target for the Premier League outfit considering his career so far and it seems unlikely that he could genuinely compete for a spot in the starting XI.
The German centre-back is a modern-day defender that is good on the ball, but is yet to perform at the highest level for an extended period of time.
He managed just 50 appearances in the last four years with Turkish club Galatasaray due to injuries and he’s been in and out of the Genoa team since he joined in the summer.
Spurs need to be browsing in the top end of the market for a new centre-back if they want to continue improving and it’s difficult to picture Gunter setting the Premier League alight with his arrival.
