Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly going to stand in the way of Joshua Onomah’s potential loan return to Aston Villa. According to the Mirror, the Championship side would like to bring him back to Villa Park before the end of the month. However, Pochettino has decided it is not the right destination for the 21-year-old after he fell out of favour in the Midlands toward the end of last season.
Pochettino is absolutely right not to let Onomah return to Aston Villa.
The England under-20 World Cup winner from last season started his time at the club well last term. However, before long he found himself dropped by Steve Bruce and the fans at Aston Villa were not exactly keen on the player.
What next?
For Onomah, it looks like a huge season ahead. A loan move does still seem the most likely recourse. The talented midfielder needs to play, so perhaps at a different team to Villa.

However, Tottenham are not exactly blessed for squad depth after making no signings this summer.
Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama are the three mainstays in those midfield positions. But Onomah, along with Harry Winks and Luke Amos, is in the group just behind.
With a Champions League campaign to play as well as hopeful cup runs, it could be Onomah is useful to have around for Pochettino this season.
Perhaps it is time for him to sink or swim in the Tottenham first-team set-up.
