Mauricio Pochettino has suggested, in comments reported by Football London, that the fans have every right to criticise his Tottenham Hotspur side, and insisted he would never complain about the supporters venting their frustration.
Spurs go into this weekend’s clash with Southampton off the back of a terrible run. They have won one of their last seven games in all competitions, and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by a League Two side this week.

Unsurprisingly, plenty of the supporters are worried. Tottenham reached the Champions League final last season and have been Premier League title contenders on a number of occasions since Pochettino’s arrival. But the fans would be forgiven for writing off their chances of silverware this term already.
However, Pochettino insisted that it would disrespectful to hit out at the supporters for expressing their disappointment.

“That is normal. The fans are always right to criticise. The fans are the only ones who you have to accept the criticism from and you cannot complain about that,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“They are right to express their feelings and emotions. The fans are emotional. The fans want to win always. The fans love the club, the fans love the players, the fans sometimes love the coaching staff and manager, sometimes. Of course you cannot say anything about the fans. The fans keep the game alive that is so beautiful. We are here because of them and that is why they can always give their opinion.”
TBR’s View
Tottenham have produced some incredible comebacks under Pochettino. So, while the fans are understandably despondent while dust is still settling from their trip to Colchester, it would be foolish to write them off just yet.
They boasted leads against Arsenal, Olympiakos and Leicester City. Spurs may not have won any of those games, but they got themselves into commanding positions.
That would hint that the turnaround does not need to be as great as some would suggest. And if they can get some momentum going, it may not be too long before the perception of their performance this season changes dramatically.
