Mauricio Pochettino reacts on Instagram as son leaves Tottenham for Watford

Maurizio Pochettino has completed a move from Tottenham Hotspur to join Championship side Watford and his Father Mauricio has reacted on Instagram – sending his best from Paris, following his son’s move.

Pochettino senior – a Spurs icon and now in charge at Paris Saint-Germain – brought his son to Tottenham when he first joined the North London club. Sacked towards the end of November 2019, Pochettino junior has remained at Spurs.

Pochettino, 19, has been a regular in Tottenham’s Under-23 side – clocking up 18 appearances for the second string. But his move to Watford comes after he entered the final six months of his contract at Spurs.

He has now signed an 18-month deal with Championship outfit Watford, who are expected to be busy on deadline day – with Bournemouth’s Dan Gosling and Newcastle man Matty Longstaff also linked. PSG boss Pochettino reacted on Instagram.

TBR’s view – A really good move, if he plays

The teenager has shown plenty of quality in his appearances for Spurs’ second string. But that is one thing – and Championship football is another. It is likely that Pochettino will be in the reserves initially, but with much more chance of senior football.

Pochettino will now be focusing on impressing with Watford’s second team and eventually breaking into the senior side. Certainly, by the time he does break in, he could be playing in the Premier League if Watford get promotion.
