Mauricio Pochettino has told Sky Sports that he could compare Rangers midfielder Steven Davis with Xavi, Andres Iniesta or Christian Eriksen as the Ibrox hero closes in on a huge milestone at international level.
The Gers man is on course to become Northern Ireland’s highest-capped player of all-time on Thursday should he feature against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

It is a fantastic achievement for the 35-year-old, who has already made 10 appearances for Rangers in all competitions so far this season.
And ahead of the potential landmark, Pochettino explained just how highly he rated the midfielder having been in charge of him during his time at Southampton.
“The talent of him I compare to football people like Xavi and Iniesta,” he told Sky Sports.

“You put him in the same level as this type of player because of this capacity to play football, be a playmaker, the intelligence to read the game, his capacity to run. I think to compare Christian Eriksen to this type of player too, they make your team better.”
Davis is coming towards the end of his career. He will turn 36 in January. Nevertheless, there have been signs this season that suggest that he could have plenty of time left before he decides to call it a day.
He was outstanding in Rangers’s superb win over Galatasaray in their Europa League play-off last week. He got through the full 90 minutes without a problem as Steven Gerrard’s side booked their place in the group-stages of the competition.
And ahead of what will surely be his 120th cap for his country, there seems little reason why Davis cannot target winning many more before he calls time on a fantastic career.
