Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has spoken about highly-rated attacker Troy Parrott, who has caught the eye already on pre-season.
The 17-year-old is a product of the Spurs academy and has been with the first-team group during the pre-season, where he impressed in the win over Juventus leading the line.
He is a centre-forward that has dazzled at youth level and didn’t look out of place when thrown in with the senior group.
Pochettino has been asked about the first-team chances of the teenager ahead of the new campaign and the manager has been fairly cautious with his response.
He explained that Parrott is in contention as it stands considering there isn’t much cover for star striker Harry Kane.
But the Evening Standard reports that veteran striker Fernando Llorente has been offered a one-year deal to return to Spurs, as his contract expired with them in the summer.
“Today, yes [he could be part of the squad], tomorrow, I don’t know. We’re working with the [young] players, trying to provide the best platform and possibility for them to perform and be comfortable with the first team,” Pochettino said, as quoted by Football.London.
“He’s still so young but we’ll see what happens at the end of the transfer window. if we have the squad that we have today, of course he’s going to have the possibility to be with the first team.”

Pochettino has certainly not gone overboard with his comments on Parrott and a cautious approach at this stage may be the right response.
But it seems like the Irish striker may need to be patient waiting for his senior opportunities once the competitive season starts.
Pochettino ‘s track record proves he won’t be afraid to blood youngsters in the first-team, but he does it at the right time and his comments about Parrott seem a little tentative.
The quick striker can only continue impressing during pre-season and proving he’s ready for the step up.
