Newcastle midfield duo Matty and Sean Longstaff both want new contracts with the club but they have been met with differing answers, as per the Telegraph.
They report that younger brother Matty is set to pen an extended deal after an impressive breakthrough season at St James’ Park, with the winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United the highlight.
But Sean, who signed a deal until 2022 last season, apparently wants to become one of the club’s highest earners and the powers that be – including Steve Bruce – want to see more of him before he is rewarded in that way financially.
Sean has started just six matches this season and Bruce reportedly wants to see greater consistency over a longer period if the club are to give in to the wages he demands.

TBR’s View – No rush on Sean given he signed until 2022 last season
If the likes of Manchester United come back in for Sean, Newcastle are protected by the fact that he signed a deal until 2022 just last season.
Meanwhile, Matty is in the same position as his brother was this time last year, having broken into the first team, he needs a contract that reflects that.
Bruce needs the pair to carry on playing well throughout the season because this Newcastle side needs their pace and energy if they are going to beat the drop.
