Matty Cash made his Premier League debut for Aston Villa last night as the Villans secured a 1-0 win over Sheffield United.

The 23-year-old started the game at right-back and put in an energetic performance to show his new club exactly what he is capable of.

Cash signed from Nottingham Forest for a fee which could eventually rise to £16 million and he’s been handed an immediate chance to shine by boss Dean Smith.

Following his debut, he took to Instagram to send out a heartfelt message following his first game in the Premier League.

After his emotional post, he received some comments from his team-mates and even from a member of the club’s coaching staff in John Terry.

The ex-Chelsea star was quick to congratulate the right-back for his stunning display, sending a message of support to the player.

Cash capped an impressive debut with a pass success ratio of 86% (Who Scored), enjoying a debut to remember.

The man who cut his teeth at Forest playing in a number of different positions looks tailor-made for the top-flight.

He’s played on the wing, in central midfield and last season he proved one of the best right-backs in the Championship.

Following his solid display, he also earned some Instagram praise from a former Aston Villa star, Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Based on last night Cash looks like a solid addition for Villa who have tied him up ahead of his best years.

The Slough-born star has penned a five-year deal and he looks set to go from strength to strength in the Villa side.

Agbonlahor spent 13 years as a fan favourite at Villa Park and earning praise from a Villa hero is a great start to his Aston Villa career.
