Matteo Guendouzi has played against Tottenham before during his time with Arsenal and faced them again last night.
Both Guendouzi’s Marseille and Spurs went into that final Champions League group game with an opportunity to qualify for the next round.
At half-time, it seemed like the French outfit were going into the last 16, but Spurs came back after the interval and won 2-1.
Guendouzi gave the ball away in stoppage time to allow Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to grab the winner on the break, meaning Marseille were eliminated from Europe altogether.

Guendouzi on Tottenham
Guendouzi was interviewed by French outlet RMC Sport after the game and delivered his verdict on the outcome.
He said: “It makes me think of last year when we were playing worse.
“We talk about fatigue or poor form but I don’t think that’s the reason we lost.
“They scored from a set piece and had two or three other shots at most.
“We had chances to score that second goal which would have made the game safe. It’s a professional failing.
“We didn’t manage the game well. Tottenham were better in many aspects; they were able to adapt to our pressing.”
Guendouzi was not the only Arsenal old boy in the side trying to knock Tottenham out of the Champions League last night.
Sead Kolasinac missed a sitter with the score at 1-1, and if the defender had scored, Spurs could well have been sent crashing out.
But Spurs got the result they needed and will be playing Champions League football in 2023 after a dramatic night in Marseille.
