Matt Miazga’s test against Harry Kane will show whether he is ready for Chelsea

England face the United States in a friendly match this Thursday at Wembley.

And it is the perfect time for Chelsea to run the rule over one of their fringe players.

Matt Miazga is out on loan at Nantes at the moment but Chelsea will be eager to discover whether he can stand up to the test of marking Harry Kane.

Tottenham’s Kane is likely to line up in attack for England, providing a difficult challenge for Miazga.

If the 23-year-old can keep Kane shackled during this game, it could be an indicator that he is ready to step up to Premier League football in the near future.

Miazga joined Chelsea in 2016 from New York Red Bulls but has only ever played two games for the Blues.

After two years in the Netherlands with Vitesse, Miazga was farmed out on loan to Nantes this summer to test himself in Ligue 1.

The towering 6ft 4in centre-half has played eight games for Nantes so far this season.

And he is hoping to win his 11th cap for the United States at Wembley, where he will be out to impress.

With Maurizio Sarri likely to keep a close eye on the game to track Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley, he will surely be checking on Miazga as well.
