Matt Le Tissier has told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (broadcast on 1/2; 14:47) that he is expecting Jarrod Bowen to make an impact for West Ham United, and suggested that his goals tally for Hull has been very impressive.

Bowen was involved in one of the marquee deals on deadline day during the January transfer window. The Guardian reports that the forward cost the Hammers £22 million.

It was little surprise to see Bowen on the move last month. He has scored 52 Championship goals since the start of the 2017/18 season.

His tally for this season stood at 16 goals and seven assists before his move. Le Tissier suggested that that is a fantastic return for a player who does not play in a central position up front.

And the pundit backed the 23-year-old to add to that tally during the remaining months of the season.

“He’s got a terrific left foot on him,” he told Soccer Saturday. “That kind of goal return from someone who’s not even a centre forward is very, very impressive. And you would think, with those kind of numbers, he should be able to make a bit of an impression in the Premier League as well.”

TBR View – Bowen needs to hit ground running

West Ham certainly need Bowen to make an impact. David Moyes’s men are in the relegation zone in the Premier League.

And it should be noted that every other side in the bottom five has won a game more recently than the Hammers have.

It would perhaps be unfair to expect Bowen to produce a strike-rate anything like the one he had in the Championship.

But having arrived for a substantial fee, the pressure is certainly on Bowen to act as a catalyst that inspires the Hammers to drag themselves away from danger.
