Matt Jarvis urges Wolves to sign free agent Diego Costa, amid reports
Matt Jarvis has told Stadium Astro that free agent Diego Costa is a “fantastic option” for Wolverhampton Wanderers ahead of the January transfer window – with the Spanish star having been released by Atletico Madrid this week.
Wolves are in need of a striker after Raul Jimenez suffered a long-term head injury against Arsenal earlier this season. Teenager Fabio Silva has done his best but has not been able to replicate the impact Jimenez has.
Costa, meanwhile, has been released by Diego Simeone’s side this week. The 32-year-old has been afforded just seven appearances this season in which he has scored two La Liga goals – but is now on the look out for a new club.
The Sun claim Wolves are interested in signing Costa, who was earning a whopping £270,000 a week at Atletico Madrid. Ex-Wolves star Jarvis was asked about a potential move, and thinks Costa would be a decent addition.
“I fully expect Wolves to sign a striker in January,” Jarvis said. “He’s a fantastic player. He would be a good option, I don’t know if he is someone Nuno would want but he would be a fantastic option. A short-term. He’s a goalscorer.”

TBR’s view – Costa would be a top signing for Wolves
Forgetting wages, Costa is just what Wolves need. The Midlands outfit desperately need to replace the loss of Jimenez – with Wolves losing four of the six Premier League games since losing Jimenez to injury.
Wolves have also been linked with Divock Origi who is on the fringes at Liverpool. While Costa would be a sensational signing, his wages may prove too much – even for Wolves. A player like Origi might be a better signing.
