Aston Villa’s goalkeeping situation has certainly been an issue over the past few months. The club have struggled to find a permanent number one in recent times and the result is a bloated area of the squad.
England international Tom Heaton is number one with long-term Villa prospect Jed Steer in reserve. International stoppers Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic are also present. One-cap Scotland international Jordan Archer has even been training with the club, according to the Daily Mail.
But Aston Villa also have a talented stopper out on loan finally showcasing his talents on a regular basis.
Matija Sarkic was loaned out to Scottish side Livingston at the start of the season. Signed from Anderlecht in 2915, he has previously had temporary spells at Wigan, Stratford and Havant & Waterlooville.

After initially starting on the bench, Sarkic came in for Livingston’s clash with Celtic last month and has not looked back. The youngster was sensational in that game, keeping Celtic at bay on numerous occasions. He even bagged an assist as Livingston won 2-0 against the Scottish champions.
His form in Scotland has seen him included in the Montenegro senior squad for the first time and it seems Aston Villa do have a young talent on their hands.
The Birmingham Mail reports that Sarkic’s contract at Aston Villa expires in the summer but his impressive displays north of the border must have the Premier League club considering an extension.
Hopefully, he can continue to thrive and eventually add his name to senior stoppers at Aston Villa.
