Matias Vecino’s agent has been quoted by Sempre Inter as saying that he spoke to Inter Milan’s chiefs at the club’s headquarters on Thursday, but denied that it was about the player’s future amid reports of a move to Tottenham.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has claimed that Vecino has said ‘yes’ to a move to Tottenham,. which could open the door for a swap deal between Inter and Spurs – including Christian Eriksen. Vecino remains a crucial part of Antonio Conte’s side.
The 41-time Uruguay international is renowned for his box-to-box abilites in midfield, but can also do a job as a holding midfielder or as a number 10. He has clocked up 88 appearances for Inter since his £20.5million move from Fiorentina in 2017.
Vecino’s agent was spotted at Inter’s headquarters and the representative told reporters that he was there to speak about Vecino, but did not discuss the midfielder’s future – stating that the South American star is happy with the Nerrazzuri.
“We did not talk about the future of Vecino. Matias is doing very well at Inter,” Alessandro Lucci, Vecino’s agent, said. “These are all ideas that have come out in the media, there is nothing to say and he is very well at Inter. We talked about other things.”

TBR’s view – Would Vecino be a good signing for Tottenham?
Spurs have already brought a central midfielder to north London this month, landing Benfica star Gedson Fernandes on a loan-to-buy deal – including a permanent clause that could see the Portuguese ace become a permanent Spurs player in 2021.
However, Spurs still need a holding midfielder given the poor performances of Eric Dier and Harry Winks struggling to adapt to Jose Mourinho’s style. Vecino is not naturally a holding midfielder, but he can do a job there and would be a top signing.
