Mathys Tel proves Thomas Frank shouldn’t have omitted him from the Champions League squad
Despite Tel signing for Tottenham permanently during the summer transfer window, Frank opted to leave him out of their Champions League squad this season.
Tottenham paid £30million for Tel to make his move to the Premier League a full-time one from Bayern Munich, but he has struggled to get game time under the new Spurs boss.
Frank controversially left Tel out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad, which surprised many fans at the time.
TBR Football revealed Frank told Tel it was a logistical decision, and nothing to do with his ability, but Tel’s efforts against Leeds proved that might have been a mistake.
The talented Frenchman got himself on the scoresheet and rattled the woodwork in an impressive 73-minute display.

Tel has had to work with restricted minutes this season, having only started twice in the Premier League, which made his performance against Leeds United even more impressive.
After the match, Kudus spoke to TNT Sports about his Tottenham teammate, Tel, and praised him for his conduct away from the pitch.
“I want to give Mathys a lot of big credit because he’s a top-notch player, but how he carries himself in training every day, getting ready.
“Like he showed today, it’s a big, big applause to him. I’m a big fan of how he composed himself and trained every day, even though he’s not playing.
“I’m happy he got his first goal, and hopefully, many more to come.”
