Mateusz Klich has responded to a Leeds United supporter on Twitter after it was confirmed that he had tested positive while on international duty with Poland – stating that the symptoms are not as bad a “hangovers” he has had in the past.
Klich, who turns 31 in June, has been ever-present for Leeds once again this season – featuring in all 29 Premier League games for Marcelo Bielsa’s side, having played 93 of the 94 Championship fixtures under Marcelo Bielsa during his first two years.
This season, his game time has reduced somewhat – coming on as a sub in four of those 29 games and only completing 90 minutes on 14 occasions. However, he remains very important to the Whites – and indeed, his national side Poland.
The midfielder is expected to be in the Euro 2021 squad for Poland this summer but he has been unavailable to feature for his country during this break – after a positive test. The Polish FA, as per the YEP, have confirmed he tested positive.
It is a blow for Klich, who will have been hoping to have added to his 30 Poland caps – but also regain some much-needed confidence before the remaining nine Premier League games. Instead, he will be self-isolating.
He responded to the fan’s Tweet, asked about his symptoms. He responded by stating that he has suffered worse hangovers.
