Mateusz Klich has told BBC Radio Leeds that he cannot wait to see both Ian Poveda and Jean-Kevin Augustin in action for Leeds United following their moves to Elland Road this month.

With Marcelo Bielsa appearing to be reluctant to make significant changes to his squad, Leeds fans would have been aware that the club would probably not be making a raft of signings this month.

So it is likely that many will be delighted with the business that has been conducted. Poveda has arrived from Manchester City, with the club confirming on their official website that he has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with the promotion-chasers.

Meanwhile, the main concern for this window was the search for Eddie Nketiah’s replacement. As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds had three bids for Che Adams rejected by Southampton.

And with the deadline looming, fans would have been forgiven for fearing that the window may close without Leeds signing a striker.

But the club appear to have produced something special. Leeds announced earlier this week that they have signed Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from RB Leipzig, and they have the option to make the move permanent in the summer.

Leeds celebrated the two new additions with a stunning comeback to beat Millwall 3-2 at home on Tuesday, with Patrick Bamford scoring twice in the win.

‘I can’t wait’

And after the game, Klich expressed his own excitement to play alongside the two newbies, and suggested that their arrivals will have a positive impact on everyone within the squad.

“I can’t wait to see them on the pitch because Ian looks very offensive, very good dribbler,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

“And I know Kevin from Germany because I follow the league. I know he is a good striker, so very happy that he came because as you could see Patrick scored two goals. It’s good for everyone.”

As Klich notes, Bamford certainly sent a message with two goals in the win. It was a message that he arguably needed to send having previously gone five games without a goal.

He now has Augustin waiting in the wings. And Leeds fans will be desperately hoping that the pair push each other to score the goals that see them across the line in the promotion race.
