Mateusz Bogusz has explained that Spanish second-tier club Logrones were selected as his loan destination this season by Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa due to their style of play.
Bogusz is a young talent on the books at Elland Road and he’s played three first-team games for the Whites, but has departed in the transfer window on a temporary basis.
The 19-year-old has linked up with Segunda Division side Logrones on a season-long loan and he will be hoping to earn plenty of senior minutes with them.
He is a box-to-box central midfielder that has impressed at youth level and also played in the Carabao Cup fixture with Hull City at the beginning of this season.
The Poland Under-21 international has drawn comparisons with fellow countryman Mateuesz Klich and he’s a great example to try emulate.
Bogusz has responded when asked about the decision to join Logrones on loan, explaining the similarities in the style of play with Leeds and the thinking of Bielsa.
“I think it was the option he (Bielsa) preferred most, at Leeds we play a Spanish style, we like to keep possession of the ball and play in an attractive style that excites the fans, high tempo. He’s a top manager and I’ve learned a lot from the manager I just feel it was time to play some more games,” he told Logrones’ official website.

TBR’s View:
It’s a very unique style at Leeds with their fast-paced approach and constant pressing for 90 minutes, which is why any new players joining their ranks will need time to adjust.
The Yorkshire club have a great system in place with the way their Under-23s side tries to mirror the first-team group and they don’t want their youngsters to move too far away from that during loan spells.
Bogusz is certainly one rising stars that can be knocking on the first-team door at Elland Road and has had a taste of it under Bielsa, so the next 12 months is vital for him.
