Mateu Alemany and Unai Emery will recommend ‘world-class’ star to Aston Villa – report

Mateu Alemany and Unai Emery will reportedly recommend Real Madrid star Marco Asensio to the Aston Villa hierarchy as they look for summer signings.

According to Marca, Alemany, the Barcelona Football Director who is due to leave in the summer for Villa, will work with Emery on new signings.

“One of the first names” that the two want to suggest to Aston Villa is Asensio. The Spaniard hasn’t finalised a new contract with Madrid and his deal expires this summer.

Villa will try and tempt him away. Due to him currently being available on a free contract, the Premier League club will be able to offer him a hefty wage through his agent Jorge Mendes.

Aston Villa want Marco Asensio

Asensio would be a great signing for Aston Villa. He is a proven winner at Real Madrid and has won many trophies, including three Champions League titles.

Whilst at Madrid, the right winger has managed 60 goals and 32 assists in 281 appearances. This is a very good tally for the 27 year-old.

The “world-class” star would definitely be a great coup for Villa. When Emery took over this season, the club were in 15th. Now they are sitting in eighth and only a win away from a European spot.

If they could make Europe and sign Asensio, then it would be a great sign of intent from the club. It would show that they are not just hoping to challenge the top six for one season.

Aston Villa fans should be very excited by the running of their club and also by how good they look on the pitch. To keep this going, Emery will definitely need a big transfer window.
