Everton currently have a whole host of talented young players out on loan. The likes of Kieran Dowell, Antonee Robinson and Beni Baningime are currently out in the Championship hoping to gain valuable experience for an Everton future.
Another such player is Callum Connolly. A member of England’s FIFA Under-20 World Cup champions squad he spent last season out on loan at Ipswich Town. That proved to be a very fruitful spell and interest in his services was understandably high in the summer.
Everton decided to send him to Wigan Athletic, but he struggled at the DW Stadium.

The result was Everton cancelling that loan in January and instead sending Connolly to Bolton Wanderers. That loan spell has got off to a far better start.
Connolly scored a crucial goal last night as Bolton defeated Birmingham City at St Andrew’s. The Trotters are deep in a relegation battle and need to pick up such crucial points and Connolly was the hero.
The midfielder, who can also play at full-back, is a very talented utility player but needs to have a better second-half to the season if he is to remain on Marco Silva’s radar at Goodison Park.
Hopefully, last night can be the kickstart his season needed.
