Match Preview: Chelsea take on United at Old Trafford

BANG and the 21st season of EPL started, BOOM and its Manchester United vs. Chelsea!

The title holders face the mighty West London side led by Jose Mourinho on their first home match of this season. Chelsea have won both of their matches in this season, thus extending Mourinho’s unbeaten run at home in England. Machester United on the other hand have eased past the Welsh side Swansea.

Playing for the first time in 27 years under a different manager, Manchester United kept their head high on their visit to Swansea last week with a comfortable 4-1 victory. RVP and Welbeck scored twice in that win. It was also David Moyes’ first win in EPL as Man United manager.

Moyes has told that Rooney is fit to start this potential encounter at Old Trafford but it seems that Rooney might not be happy to play against Chelsea as he has been linked with a move to the West Londoners from the past 4 months.

As usual the danger lies in Robin Van Persie. This man can knock over any top – class team by showing his lethal touch. Well anticipation for crosses and passes, superb volleys, pin – point finishing and of course his goal scoring form can make any goal keeper sweat.

Manchester United have only made one signing this season. Urugyuan defender Guillermo Varela moved to the club at the start of the window.

Expected line up: David De Gea , Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Phil Jones , Patrice Evra , Michael Carrick , Kagawa , Antonio Valencia, Rooney, Ryan Giggs and RVP. Rafael , Nani and Javier Hernandez are out injured.

The return of ‘The Special One’ has made Chelsea beam with extra – confidence. Four signings so far ( Schwarzer , Van Ginkel, Schurrle and Willian ) and Mourinho is  still eyeing one more. It is expected the either Wayne Rooney or Samuel Eto’o will join Chelsea in order to boost their goal scoring opportunities.

Mid field is bossed by world class players. Defending is good. But the problem is that Chelsea don’t have an in-form striker. Chelsea have scored four time in their last two EPL fixtures. But none have been scored by a striker ( 2 by mid fielders, 1 by defender and an owl goal).

Chelsea have been considered to edge past Manchester United. Mourinho ousted Man United from UCL 2003 when he was at Porto, snatched EPL from Manchester United on his very first season at Chelsea and led Real Madrid to a 2-1 win at Old Trafford last season.

Expected line up: Petr Cech, Ivanovic, John Terry, Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole, Lampard, Essein, Mata , Oscar, Hazard, Ba

I am wishing luck to both the team and their supporters.
