Gabriel Martinelli got his second goal of the season on Wednesday night with a Thierry Henry-esque finish, as Arsenal beat West Ham 2-0. Mat Ryan and Aaron Ramsdale have applauded the Brazilian on Instagram.

Martinelli, 22, has started four consecutive Premier League matches as he looks to put his injury issues behind him. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missing for a second game, Martinelli took full advantage.

Latching on to an inch-perfect pass from Alexandre Lacazette, Martinelli took a touch before finishing superbly in the far corner. Substitute Emile Smith-Rowe got the second late on, with West Ham down to 10 men.

A brilliant win for the Gunners, which sees them climb into the top four spots in the Premier League table. While there is still pressure on Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have put a poor start behind them and look good.

Martinelli, a £6million (GOAL) signing from Brazilian side Ituano, posted on Instagram after scoring his second league goal of the season. It was his fourth goal involvement in his last five games for the Gunners.

It was the sign of a player in full confidence. A neat first touch to get the ball out of his feet, he took advantage of an on-rushing, ex-Arsenal goalkeeper in Lukasz Fabianski – making the finish a lot easier than it actually was.

With Aubameyang sidelined, Arsenal will need the likes of Martinelli to step up and in his last few games he has done – getting a goal against Newcastle. Ryan and Ramsdale commented on his Instagram.
