A number of Newcastle United fans have welcomed reports linking the Magpies to Jordan Veretout.
Newcastle are likely to be busy in the January transfer window as they look to bolster their ranks.
The Magpies boast considerable financial muscle following their long-awaited takeover.

However, Newcastle will need to bring in players who can drag the team by the scruff of the neck up the league table.
And a player like Veretout, a high-quality, tenacious midfielder with Premier League experience, would fit the bill.
According to French outlet Footmercato, Newcastle are preparing an offer for the Roma ace.
The 28-year-old is a regular for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Veretout has missed just one Serie A game this season due to suspension.
He has an impressive four goals and five assists from 18 league appearances in 2021-22.
In addition, Veretout has won five caps for France after making his debut in September this year.
The former Aston Villa, Fiorentina, Saint-Etienne and Nantes ace can play in central, defensive and attacking midfield.
Last year, former Nantes ace Benoit Cauet told 20 Minutes: “He’s one of the best midfielders in Italy right now.
“He’s Roma’s hub, the leader of the team. He’s been explosive with his performances for the side.”
Veretout cost Roma around £15.8million in 2020 and Transfermarkt currently values him at £27million.
