Everton appear to have something of a fight on their hands keeping hold of Idrissa Gana Gueye. Paris Saint-Germain are said to be keen on the Senegalese midfielder as they look for reinforcements in the centre of the park.
As reported by Telefoot this week, the player is keen on the move but Everton are standing firm on a £40 million price-tag.
Now, Everton fans will no doubt hope they keep hold of their key man. However, if they were to bring in anything like £40 million for the player a lot of credit would have to go to the much-maligned former director of football Steve Walsh.
The former Leicester man did a lot wrong at Everton. Most of his recruits have flopped at Goodison Park and his transfer strategy with Ronald Koeman left many Everton fans frustrated.

However, Everton spent just £7.1 million on the midfielder, as reported by the Guardian.
He was a player Walsh pushed to sign for Everton after Aston Villa, his former club, were relegated. He saw similarities with his big success story, N’Golo Kante, who he had signed at Leicester City.
He has proven a big hit at Goodison and if he was sold on for a profit of over £30 million then Walsh could count that as a rare success story from his time at Everton. Fans might even begin to forgive him for Davy Klaassen.
