'Massive for me': Serie A star refuses to rule out Celtic switch
Aaron Hickey says he may be open to a Celtic switch.
The left-back took a major step in his career when he left Hearts for Serie A side Bologna in September 2020, with Celtic having made a number of bids according to Craig Levein.
Hickey also turned down the opportunity to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Since arriving in Italy in a £1.5m move, Hickey has made 12 appearances for the first team.
The 18-year-old has now confirmed Celtic’s interest, and refused to rule out a potential move in the future.
Speaking to the Herald, Hickey said: “Celtic came in a lot and I was excited and happy about it.
“I don’t know if it was the right option for me, though, because of the deal or something.
“I’m a Celtic supporter and it was massive for me, but I just didn’t think it was the right time to go there.
“I wouldn’t ever rule it out down the line, who knows.”
Bologna are currently 11th in Italian football’s top flight.
A summer of change is on the cards at Celtic Park, meanwhile, with Eddie Howe expected to be named their new manager in the coming days.
Captain Scott Brown has already confirmed that he’s on the way out, with the 35-year-old set to join Aberdeen as a player-coach.
