Mason Holgate confirms he’ll be well out of the way for Liverpool title celebrations

Everton defender, Mason Holgate, has confirmed that he’ll be staying well clear of the city when Liverpool eventually parade the Premier League title.

The Reds moved to within three wins of landing their first Premier League title with a win over Bournemouth yesterday.

After years of watching Manchester United and Man City dominate proceedings, Jurgen Klopp is finally going to be the man to bring Premier League glory to Anfield.

However, for Toffees star Holgate, it will all be a bit much it seems.

“I’ll be a long way from Liverpool, yes, I think so! To be honest, I don’t think I want to be anywhere near that,” Holgate confirmed when asked about where he’ll be when Liverpool parade the trophy. (Daily Star)

Holgate has been in fine form under Carlo Ancelotti at Everton. The Italian has turned things around at Goodison Park after a shocking start to the season under Marco Silva.

And while the former West Brom loanee admits he’ll be out of the way, he conceded that Liverpool fully deserve their moment.

“They have done well, there is nothing you can say about that. If they win it, they will have deserved to win the title”.

“Obviously we play them next week and we look forward to that type of game. The rivalry is important when we play against them but when we are not playing them, we just have to concentrate on ourselves,” he added.

Everton themselves are only six points off a European place as things stand. A late run, then, could well see them secure some success of their own.

Suck it up and move on – TBR View

It’s never easy being in a two-club city when the opposite team is doing so well. We see it at the moment in Sheffield with United and Wednesday and to a lesser extent over in Manchester.

Unfortunately, Holgate will just have to suck it up and move on. Liverpool are runaway and deserved winners, as he rightly touches on.

The important thing for Mason Holgate is to keep on playing and improving. He’s shown a marked improvement under Ancelotti and will now garner hopes of breaking into the England squad.
