Marvin Compper suggests difficult Celtic spell helped him grow

The one-cap German international struggled to make any impact at Celtic this summer.

Marvin Compper has been speaking about his time at Celtic this week. The German was talking to Radio Bruno Toscana, as relayed by Firenze Viola.

The main topic of discussion was German midfielder, Diego Demme. Compper is a former team-mate at RB Leipzig. Demme is reportedly wanted by another of Compper’s former clubs, Fiorentina.

The Tuscany based station had plenty of questions for the German regarding their potential new signing. However, they were also curious about his time at Celtic.

It seems, that despite an unsuccessful spell in Glasgow, the German defender did take positives from the experience.

“I served me so much on a human level. As a man, I learned a lot. I adapted to a new culture, different from the German one, as I did in Italy.”

On the pitch, Celtic and Compper were clearly not a match.

As reported by BBC Sport, the 34-year-old cost £1 million in January 2018.

Unfortunately, he failed to make an impact at Parkhead. The German played just 83 minutes of football for Celtic in his 18 months at the club amid fitness and injury problems.

This summer, he left to join 3.Liga side Duisburg in his homeland in the hope of leading them on a promotion charge.

Hopefully, some of his Glasgow lessons can help him achieve that goal.
