Rangers strengthened their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table and stretched their advantage to a whopping 22 points with a 2-1 away win over Aberdeen – and Martyn Waghorn has responded on Instagram.

The Gers came into the match as they looked to preserve their unbeaten run in the division – and it looked as if it would get off to the perfect start, when Ryan Hedges was sent off for a last-man tackle on Alfredo Morelos.

James Tavernier missed the spot-kick but Colombia international Morelos was in inspired form. His turn and shot moments later flew past Joe Lewis, before he made it two in the second half with another lovely finish.

Ally McCoist described the £30,000-a-week striker (AS) as “back in business”, as two goals were enough to see off Aberdeen despite Matty Kennedy’s neat finish late on. Rangers posted the below on Instagram at half-time.

Morelos has struggled to replicate last season’s form, but has now hit double digits for the campaign – netting 10 goals in 27 league and cup appearances. He has six in 18 Scottish Premiership outings.

Ex-Rangers striker and Ibrox favourite Waghorn responded to the above Instagram post to applaud Morelos’ first goal – commenting “what a finish”, in a swivel and shot that Morelos has become renowned for.
