Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings have both lauded Emi Martinez after the Aston Villa goalkeeper took to Instagram to comment on their goalless draw on Saturday, while Gabriel Martinelli labelled his former Arsenal teammate a ‘phenomenon’.
There can surely be absolutely no doubt about Martinez being one of the Premier League’s best. The Argentinian has now kept 14 clean sheets since arriving at Villa Park in the summer.

And his latest came as he made a number of outstanding stops to keep Wolves at bay at the weekend. His second-half save from Conor Coady, in particular, was simply outrageous.
So it is no surprise that he received a number of plaudits on social media following his post about the result.

Both of the centre-backs in front of him heaped praise on him, while Martinelli also managed to sum up how many Villa fans probably feel about the goalkeeper…

It seems to be said every week, but it really is remarkable to think that Villa paid just £17 million for Martinez (fee reported by BBC Sport).
He has been a colossus for Dean Smith’s side. And it would be painful reading for many at his old club to work out how many points he has won for Villa this season.
