Gabriel Martinelli and Adel Taarabt were amongst those to laud Nuno Tavares on Instagram in reaction to the Arsenal loanee’s latest display for Marseille – in which he scored a goal once again.

Tavares is off to a flyer at Stade Velodrome. The 22-year-old is currently one of the leading goalscorers in Ligue 1. He, of course, opened his account with a brilliant finish in the emphatic win over Reims.

And he has now doubled his tally. Tavares scored Marseille’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Brest on Sunday. He made a superb run to the back post following a corner and volleyed home into the bottom corner.

The early signs suggest that a loan spell with Marseille could be huge for Tavares. Obviously, William Saliba enjoyed a superb stay with the club last season. And he has now gone straight into Mikel Arteta’s plans at the beginning of this campaign.

Tavares’ potential was clear to see before his loan departure. But it seemed that he was a little rough around the edges, particularly defensively.

Crucially, he is getting minutes in France. And he is, so far, making the most of the opportunity.

Tavares has now taken to Instagram to comment on his latest display. And amongst those to reply were Martinelli and Taarabt…

Taarabt obviously knows Tavares extremely well. The pair played together at Benfica before the youngster made the move to Arsenal a year ago.

It is a really promising start to life on loan for the wide-man. He is keeping himself on the Arsenal radar.

And if he can maintain anything like his current strike-rate over the course of the campaign, Arteta will surely find it impossible to ignore Tavares upon his return.
