Martin Odegaard suffered an off-day despite Sunday thrashing

Martin Odegaard was below par against Tottenham.

Tottenham turned up on Sunday and were run ragged by Arsenal.

The Gunners ripped into their rivals time and time again, scoring three goals in 22 first-half minutes.

However, not everyone in the Gunners’ ranks was on top of their game.

Despite the attacking midfielders and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doing a lot of damage, Odegaard was below par.

He was the one member of the Arsenal front four who failed to score and his numbers on the day weren’t what you’d expect.

Odegaard failed to even take a single shot on the day.

He also lost 9 of his 11 duels and found himself dispossessed 4 times om the day (FotMob).

Given the performances from those around Odegaard, he can be afforded a rare off day.

Last week against Burnley he was the hero, firing in the only goal of the game via a sublime free kick.

It’s just a shame he couldn’t build on that performance against Spurs.

The Norwegian is clearly a fantastic player and he did score the equaliser for Arsenal last season against Tottenham at The Emirates.

Having signed for £30m over the summer (Sky Sports), you’d expect more from him in big games like the one over the weekend.

We’re only six games into the season and the 22-year-old has plenty more chances to impress in big games.

Next up for Odegaard and co is a trip to Brighton before they host Crystal Palace.

If the Gunners can keep up their goalscoring form in those games then they could kick on for a European push.

Odegaard will have to be in his best form to help his side push for that, but it’s certainly achievable.
