The streets won’t forget.

We’re not talking about Mike Skinner’s band and their incredible memory, this saying is about those footballers who perhaps weren’t the most accomplished, but they captured the imagination for various other reasons.

The likes of Adel Taarabt and Jay-Jay Okocha are your quintessential ‘streets won’t forget’ players.

Speaking to 11TeamSports on TikTok, Martin Odegaard has been asked if there are any players of this ilk who he’s a particular fan of, and he gave a very interesting answer.

Martin Odegaard’s favourite streets won’t forget player

Interestingly, Odegaard named a former Newcastle player when asked this question.

Indeed, Odegaard stated that Hatem Ben Arfa is one of his favourite players.

“Who is your favourite streets won’t forget player?” Odegaard was asked.

“Oh, I would say Ben Arfa,” Odegaard said

Hatem Ben Arfa had so much talent

Hatem Ben Arfa isn’t a player you often hear mentioned when Premier League greats are discussed, but he had so much talent.

Arriving at Newcastle for just £6m, not many knew what to expect of Ben Arfa when he arrived in England.

He was inconsistent and very wasteful at times, but, on his day, he was absolutely unplayable.

His dribbling ability could rival any player’s, and he was never afraid to attempt the spectacular, even if it didn’t always come off.

Newcastle have always loved a player in this mould – from Allan Saint-Maximin all the way back to David Ginola, and while Ben Arfa probably isn’t the best of the bunch, he’s certainly one of the most memorable.

That early 2010s Newcastle side was fantastic to watch at times, and while we didn’t always get to see the best of Ben Arfa, when he turned it on, there wasn’t a player in the Premier League like him.
