Martin Odegaard has lauded one of Mikel Arteta’s summer signings, who has been mightily impressive during his short time at Arsenal so far.
Arsenal have made a very good start to their 25/26 Premier League campaign, with the Gunners winning three games from four as they search for that elusive title win this season.
A significant part of Arsenal’s success so far has been due to some of the new signings. Noni Madueke has been brilliant, and Viktor Gyokeres has found his scoring boots, whilst Christian Mosquera has been impressive in William Saliba’s absence.
But one has stood out among the rest, and that’s Martin Zubimendi. Martin Odegaard has noticed this.

Martin Odegaard lauds ‘incredible’ Martin Zubimendi
Speaking on the Spaniard in a recent interview with club media, Odegaard spoke about Zubimendi and, in particular, his fantastic strike against Nottingham Forest.
Odegaard said: “Zubimendi’s goal was incredible, it’s so difficult to finish like that. You need to have a perfect connection with the ball, be well balanced, the timing – everything has to be perfect.
“It’s great technique from him, it was really tough to score there.”
It was quite a sensational strike. Zubimendi wasn’t exactly signed at Arsenal for his goals, but his performance last week against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
But it isn’t just his goals; his overall quality has shone through on the pitch. Alongside Declan Rice, Zubimendi is proving to be equally as effective as a metronome in Arteta’s side – in what is, at the moment, one of the best midfield partnerships in the world.

How has Martin Zubimendi played so far Arsenal?
Remarkably, Zubimendi scored just two goals in 48 appearances for Real Sociedad last season. And in just four matches has already equalled that for Arsenal.
| Year | Matches | Goals | Assists |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-26 | 5 | 2 | 0 |
What a signing he’ll be, and for around £51m, in today’s market could seriously prove a steal.
