Arsenal beat Olympiacos 2-0 on Wednesday night, but the ball just would not go in the net for striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Arsenal saw off Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, and Mikel Arteta quickly turned his attention to the Champions League.
The Gunners welcomed Olympiacos to North London and grabbed an early lead through Gabriel Martinelli.
Substitute Bukayo Saka scored number two, but striker Viktor Gyokeres may be a little frustrated to have not found the net himself.

Martin Odegaard shares verdict on Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres
Summer signing Gyokeres is already being given the ‘flat track bully’ tag, which is perhaps a little unfair.
The Swede has scored against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, but drew blanks against Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City.
Gyokeres is still settling in and would have loved to have scored his first Champions League goal for Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Gyokeres hit the post, had a shot blocked, and curled an effort over the bar as he just couldn’t find the net.
Martin Odegaard was Arsenal’s star man on the night, but he offered major praise to Gyokeres after the final whistle.
Speaking to TNT Sports, Odegaard branded Gyokeres ‘aggressive’ and believes the Arsenal forward is ‘always a threat’.
Odegaard clearly loves playing with a striker like Gyokeres and wants to create more chances for him going forward.
“That is what I want to do, especially with those forward players, especially with Viktor, who is so aggressive and always a threat,” said Odegaard when asked about threading balls into the Arsenal attack.
“That is my job, to create things for them. I could have had a few more assists, but we got the win and I enjoyed it,” he added.
Mikel Arteta plays down Viktor Gyokeres theory
After the final whistle, Arteta was asked whether he could sense ‘desperation’ in Gyokeres as he looks to score more goals.
Arteta played down that idea, though, simply suggesting that he sees a striker who is just doing the best for his team.
Arteta, as quoted on Arsenal’s official website, stated that Gyokeres was ‘exceptional’ against Olympiacos.
“What I sense is that he’s doing better and better things every game, and today he was denied a few times on one of the blocks, and then he hit the post, but I think overall his performance was exceptional,” said Arteta.
“Again, his work was really good, and yeah, we want him to be scoring goals, but if he doesn’t do that, at least to do everything as he’s doing for the team, because he’s helping the team a lot,” he added.
Gyokeres may have now gone five appearances without a goal, but the Arsenal boss is offering his full backing and loves the all-round quality on show.
