Martin Keown has suggested that Everton could be a great destination for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, who he views as an “outstanding talent” that needs a move away from Selhurst Park.
Zaha, who earns £130,000-a-week, has been a real talisman for the Palace team for several years and has made a remarkable 382 senior appearances for the London club.
But the forward has always been someone tipped for more, after having a two-year spell at Manchester United in the early stages of his career.
According to the Mirror last summer in July, Everton were interested in trying to sign Zaha and Palace were prepared to listen to offers at the time.
The 28-year-old has remained with them this season, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances across all competitions so far.
Keown has claimed joining Everton and playing at Goodison Park could be a good step for Zaha.
“Zaha is ambitious, wants to move on to another club. It’s just where is he going to go,” Keown told talkSPORT.
“He is an outstanding talent there is no doubt about that, playing more centrally this season.
“Maybe an Everton (would be a good fit), or somebody who have big pockets and big ambition. Ancelotti could be somebody that would like to take him.”
It remains to be seen if Everton will reignite any kind of interest in Zaha at the end of the campaign, but he’s someone that would be a strong signing if they don’t have to fork out an astronomical transfer fee.
The speed machine is a versatile attacker that can play centrally or out wide, with his pace and trickery something that frightens defences.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is someone that needs to add real depth to his squad if his ambition of turning the Merseyside giants into regular European contenders can be fulfilled.
