Martin Keown has told TalkSPORT on Friday that he believes Brendan Rodgers will not want to leave Leicester City for Tottenham Hotspur this summer – suggesting that Leicester are a better side than Spurs right now.
Spurs sacked Jose Mourinho on Monday and the Portuguese boss has since been replaced by Ryan Mason on an interim basis until the end of the season. Rodgers is one of the most-likely candidates, but remains at Leicester.
The Northern Irishman has already addressed rumours surrounding his future at Leicester – stating that while there is growth at the King Power, he will stay. He worked under Mourinho during his early coaching years at Chelsea.
Keown reacted to rumours that Rodgers could be pursued by Spurs and Daniel Levy in the coming weeks – discussing whether Rodgers would want to leave Leicester for Spurs, given the Foxes are a better side at the moment.
“Are Spurs big enough? Has he got a better team at the moment? They are also in a cup final. He is an ambitious man, I like his set-up at Leicester,” Keown told Jim White’s TalkSPORT show at 10.10AM on Friday.

But realistically, as Keown states, why would he leave a Leicester side who looked destined to finish in the top four – and have a strong chance of winning the FA Cup – to join Spurs? He is building a real force in Leicester.
Tottenham are a bigger club, their inclusion in the recent European Super League is proof of that. But to end what is an exciting, growing stint at Leicester would be a waste. It has potential in future seasons, but right now, no.
