Martin Keown lauds 20-year-old after Arsenal thrash Tottenham

Martin Keown has told Match of the Day 2 that Arsenal star Bukayo Saka was outstanding during Sunday’s 3-1 win over fierce rivals Tottenham.

Saka scored the third goal during a rampant first-half. Emile Smith Rowe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also found their way onto the score sheet.

The youngster was in flying form and was clearly delighted with his goal in such a high-profile fixture.

Saka also helped himself to an assist during the clash and he looks to be over his Euro 2020 heartache from the summer.

Former Arsenal defender Keown was impressed and he raved about the youngster during Match of the Day 2.

He said: “This young man was at the forefront of everything Arsenal did. He’s the future of the football club. It’s great to see the youngsters come through the academy and they’re doing it now.

At 20-years-old there is no ceiling on Saka. He could achieve greatness in the game and Arsenal will hope he can be with them for many more years.

Saka will hope that his exploits yesterday can ignite his season. Prior to Sunday’s win, he hadn’t claimed a goal contribution during 2021/22.

The youngster is absolutely integral to Arsenal’s fortunes this season.

Saka possesses pace to burn and with a little more finesse he could help himself to even more goals and assists.

It’s time now for Saka to start kicking on. He will be buoyed by playing plenty of football at Euro 2020 and now Arsenal need to see his brilliance on a consistent basis.

The Gunners man earns £33,000-a-week at the Emirates Stadium and looks set for bigger contracts throughout his career.

Saka is very much one of their own at Arsenal and the best is still to come from the talented forward.
