Martin Keown has told BT Sport, via the Daily Mail that Martin Odegaard can become a really good addition to the Arsenal ranks.

The on-loan Real Madrid star produced an eye-catching display against Benfica in the Europa League last night.

Odegaard will spend the campaign at the Emirates Stadium and will hope to showcase his talents to Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane.

Last night, the Norwegian talent who earns £85,000-a-week was handed another start and did pretty well.

Keown believes that although the jury is out somewhat, there is significant potential in the 22-year-old.

He told BT Sport, via the Daily Mail: “We’re still waiting to see, I think there’s a player under there but he’s not played much football for Real Madrid and he’s maybe a bit short of fitness.

“If you don’t give him the ball you can’t see what he’s capable of, but there were moments he had the ball, good passes.

“He does really well for the goal, he’s a player they want to try and build around. There were some glimpses of really good play.”

TBR View: Odegaard can be ace in Arteta’s pack once up to speed

Last season the Norway start scored seven goals and claimed nine assists for Real Sociedad in La Liga.

The talent is there and once he gets up to speed with the way in which Arsenal play he could prove to be a real asset.

Arteta has suggested that his team needs more creativity and Odegaard is a player who should bring that to the party.

He is comfortable on the ball, has a decent left peg and is also capable of carving chances out for other players.

There is, of course, more to come from Odegaard but once he’s had a few more games under his belt, he could be the ace in Arteta’s pack.
