Martin Keown believes that Liverpool’s Andy Robertson should have been included on the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or award.
The Reds have seven players in the running for the individual prize, which is more than any other team in Europe.
Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are the seven Liverpool candidates.
Pundit Keown was surprised that Robertson is omitted from the shortlist and has raved about his qualities.
The attack-minded left-back is such an important player in the Liverpool team and developed into a superstar under manager Jurgen Klopp.
“Liverpool have seven representatives in the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist but really, they should have eight. Andy Robertson should be in there, too. He and Trent Alexander-Arnold have practically rewritten the rules for full backs,” Keown wrote in the Daily Mail.
“Robertson seems to have an innate ability to sniff out danger. He covers such a distance and is so good at getting back.”

TBR’s View:
Robertson has to be considered one of the top left-backs in the world and he’s enjoyed an incredible rise to the top, as he was playing in the fourth-tier of Scottish football at one stage.
The 25-year-old offers such a great attacking threat when he bombs forward and he’s been directly involved in four goals in 14 games across all competitions so far this season.
He managed 13 assists across all competitions during the last campaign and is a mainstay in a Liverpool team that won the Champions League last season.
