Martin Keown believes reported Arsenal target Willian would be great for dressing room

Martin Keown believes that Chelsea attacker Willian would be a great fit at Arsenal, as they have been heavily linked with signing him from their London rivals this summer.

The 31-year-old Brazilian has been unable to agree a new deal at Chelsea and his contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of August.

According to ESPN, the right-winger has agreed a three-year deal with Arsenal ahead of a switch to the Emirates Stadium and it’s expected to be announced later this month.

The speedster has been in good form this campaign for Chelsea, scoring 11 goals and supplying nine assists in 47 games across all competitions for them.

Ex-Arsenal defender Keown feels that Willian will be a great addition at his former club and expects him to have an impact on the Gunners squad.

“I think that’s a fantastic bit of business. I have always been a real admirer of Willian,” Keown told the Mirror.

“When I saw what he has been doing this year at Chelsea with his free-kicks and penalties, he’s so reliable.

“He comes in with a wealth of experience and I like his work ethic. He is someone who will always give you 100 per cent and the right type of player to go into what is a really young Arsenal dressing room.”

TBR’s View:

Arsenal may not be operating on the biggest transfer budget in the summer window, so picking up Willian from Chelsea looks like it could be an extremely shrewd piece of business.

The South American winger has seven years of playing in English football under his belt and based off his form during the past 12 months he could bring something extra to the Gunners frontline.

Mikel Arteta has an exciting young group that should only get better in the coming years, but having a blend of experience alongside that is crucial.
