Martin Jol has told the Guardian that Tottenham Hotspur should look to sign Ajax superstar Hakim Ziyech this summer, ahead of Spurs’ Champions League clash against the Dutch side.
Ziyech, 26, has been one of Ajax’s best players in a team studded with players playing to the best of their ability. This season, he has scored a whopping 20 goals and 20 assists in just 44 games.
The Guardian recently claimed that Spurs are interested in Morocco’s 2018 World Cup star, while The Sun report that Ziyech has a release clause in his contract worth just £25million.
Former Tottenham manager Jol has claimed that Spurs need to sign Ziyech this summer ahead of Tuesday’s clash, describing him as a “very good player”. Though he did give Spurs a warning, using Dusan Tadic as an example.

“If I was Spurs, I would sign Ziyech,” Jol said. “He is not the strongest but he is developing into a very good player. There is one thing. Look at Tadic.
“He was an average player in the Premier League but in the Netherlands, he is one of the best in the league. In the Netherlands, it’s not as difficult as people think.”
TBR’s view
Spurs have plenty of options out wide, but they lack that world beater that can take from top four in the Premier League to title challengers.
Christian Eriksen is also set to leave the club and they need a replacement that can add creativity, flair and goals to the side. Ziyech has all of this in abundance.
But Jol is right, Spurs must be wary that the Eredivisie is a considerable step down from the Premier League. But his performances in the Champions League indicate that he can play against the best.
