“Martin is happy in Newcastle. Martin can be a symbol of the new and rich Newcastle.”
Martin Dubravka’s agent Pavel Zika has told Slovakian outlet Sport.sme that his client is the best goalkeeper in English football at the moment – but also gave a verdict on the stopper’s future that will delight Newcastle fans.
Dubravka, 31, has become a fan favourite since joining the club initially on loan from MSK Zilina in January 2018. Since then, he has been the club’s undisputed number one goalkeeper, clocking up 80 appearances in the process.
His excellent form, which has seen concede just 101 goals and keep 24 clean sheets – an excellent record given Newcastle have been in the lower half of the Premier League since Dubravka joined – has attracted interest.
The report states Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Spanish clubs have taken a look at Dubravka, while Juventus have been strongly linked. But Zika stated that £4million signing (Sun) Dubravka wants to stay.

“Dubravka is one of the best goalkeepers in England, maybe the best,” Zika said, as per the Chronicle. “There are speculations in the media. Neither I nor my sons (working together in the agency) would say something first.
“We do not do promote. We only answer media questions. When big clubs are at the stage of searching for the right goalkeeper, it is normal that they mention Dúbravka. But that doesn’t mean he’s moving.
Dubravka agreed a six-year deal when he signed and has since signed an extension, keeping him on Tyneside until the summer of 2025. Certainly, there are no issues surrounding his contract.
But to keep him happy, improvements need to be made.

TBR’s view – Dubravka’s ambition needs to be matched
A new takeover will help that. Bringing a number of high-profile players to the club – if a takeover does finally take place – will only strengthen Newcastle’s chances of keeping their highly-rated stopper.
