Martin Dubravka suggests three national teammates Newcastle should sign
Martin Dubravka has told The One Glove’s Instagram channel that he would love to see three national teammates at Newcastle United should a takeover occur – including a midfielder currently playing under Rafa Benitez.
Newcastle’s takeover remains at the Premier League checks stage – with Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed bid having paid a deposit. However, a number of obstacles have delayed a takeover being announced.
There are serious doubts over whether a move will go through – but still, there has been plenty of talk over which players could join Newcastle if indeed a takeover is completed. A number of big players have been linked.
Asked who he would like at Newcastle if a takeover is completed, Dubravka picked three Slovakia national team players in Inter defender Milan Skriniar, Napoli midfielder Stanislav Lobotka and Dalian Yifang ace Marek Hamsik.
“At the moment, I would probably pick three guys which I think have so much quality,” Dubravka said. “Milan Skriniar, a defender who is playing for Inter Milan. He’s an amazing player.
“Stanislav Lobotka, who’s at Napoli, and is an amazing player. And Marek Hamsik, who’s a legend. These three guys have so much quality. Even Hamsik, who is 32 or 33, he is in the gym doing the things to improve his level.
“It’s amazing to see that he still has some goals. He still wants to improve – even though he’s 32, which is nice. I admire him,” Dubravka added during the interview with Rob Elliot.
TBR’s view – A move for Hamsik would surely tempt Benitez
Benitez has worked with goalscoring midfielder Hamsik at Napoli and now in the Chinese Super League with Dalian, and heeding Dubravka’s advice with a move for the Slovakian icon would surely tempt Benitez to rejoin Newcastle.
Dalian paid £17.5million (Mail) for Hamsik and if Newcastle tabled a similar offer for the midfielder, surely the Chinese club could allow him to go. Signing Hamsik, as suggested by Dubravka, may tempt Benitez even more so.
