Jesse Marsch has said that Luis Sinisterra is available for Leeds United this weekend, while he suggested in his press conference that the Colombian has looked fantastic in training.

Sinisterra is awaiting the chance to make his debut for the Whites following his move in the summer. He featured in a couple of pre-season games. Unfortunately, he picked up a hamstring injury while away in Australia.

That meant that the 23-year-old missed the game against Wolves. Thankfully, Leeds did not miss him too much with Marsch’s men coming from behind to win 2-1.

Southampton lie ahead for Leeds. And this fixture last season proved to be one of the most disappointing moments of Marcelo Bielsa’s tenure.

Leeds have a real point to prove this time around. And the good news for the Whites is that Marsch has now confirmed that Sinisterra could be in the squad.

He may not be ready to start. However, he has looked very bright after the last few days.

“When he picked up the hamstring injury, it was from a contact, which is not the same as when it’s from a non-contact. And then, what the recovery is like can be different as well,” he said in his press conference.

“So we’ve been cautious with him, but he’s felt so good that we introduced him into training. And then he was like a neutral player one day, and then he was all-in and he looked fantastic. Obviously he’s not 100 percent fit, but I still think there’s a good possibility that he can help us with limited minutes.”

Leeds fans are clearly hoping that they sign another striker before the window shuts. But there is no question that the Whites have real depth in the three roles behind the number nine.

Jack Harrison and Brenden Aaronson were outstanding against Wolves. Meanwhile, Daniel James is also available again after being suspended for Saturday. Crysencio Summerville is another option.

Adding Sinisterra to that mix could be really exciting for Leeds. He was outstanding at Feyenoord last year. And he is perhaps the addition most likely to evoke memories of Raphinha.

Clearly, Marsch is not going to rush the summer signing back. But there does appear to be a good chance that he will make his debut this week.
