Jesse Marsch has issued a positive update on Patrick Bamford following Leeds United’s dramatic win over Norwich City, claiming that the striker is fine – in comments reported by BBC Sport.
Bamford handed Leeds a big boost ahead of their must-win clash with the Canaries. The striker was able to make his first start following a number of months on the sidelines.

Ultimately, he was unable to get on the scoresheet. However, Bamford’s return seemed to make a big difference. He gave Leeds something to aim for when moving the ball forward.
Some of his build-up play made it seem like he had not been away. So it looked to be a real blow when he was taken off at half-time.

Some noticed that Bamford was potentially limping towards the end of the first-half. And given what happened when he came on against Brentford in December, many may have feared what his substitution may mean.
However, Marsch alleviated those concerns after the Leeds win, suggesting that Bamford should be fine.
“Patrick Bamford’s fine, it’s just the pace of the game was so frenetic I didn’t feel he could go more. I think he delivered a really good first half performance for us,” he said, as reported by BBC Sport.
No coincidence Leeds suffered after Bamford came off
Of course, Leeds fans probably anticipated Norwich coming back at them while the scoreline was 1-0. And that would have probably happened even if Bamford had remained on the pitch.
But it did appear that the Whites did lose a lot when Bamford came off. The likes of Dan James, Rodrigo and Raphinha seemed to see their roles change slightly during the second-half. And once again, Leeds went a long time without a natural striker on the field.
It is massive therefore, that Bamford is seemingly fine ahead of Leeds’ trip to Wolves on Friday.
With Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips also edging closer to returning after lengthy absences, Leeds can start to feel a little more optimistic about what is to come in the weeks ahead.
